• If you have a local company and are looking for advertising or community support opportunities, please contact us.
• Do you want to save money on your summer swim team registration? Of course you do! We have a new program this year to help benefit Pirates and to save you money. We are looking for local businesses to sponsor our team and you can help us. For each sponsor you bring in, you will receive a credit back on your registration. Once you turn in their check and their logo, you will earn a credit on your account based on the schedule below:

  • Olympic Sponsor ($1000): $100 Account Credit

  • Silver Sponsor ($500): $50 Account Credit

    • Please be sure to put your family’s last name on the form so you receive credit for any sponsors you bring in!

Volunteer information
• Please be aware that we will NOT be offering a volunteer buy out this season. All families will be required to volunteer in some capacity at every meet that your swimmer participates in. We will have plenty of opportunities for volunteering including shorter shifts, floating positions and more! Watch for more information coming soon!
• If you are unable to volunteer during meets, there are preseason and support positions available to you.
• We are still in need of volunteers to step up and become a committee head. Please remember this fulfills your volunteer responsibilities for the year! As with all volunteer positions you will never be asked to miss your child’s events. The board and fellow volunteers will always step in so you can step away and cheer on your swimmer. The following committees are in need of volunteers:

  • Roster Coordinator: This position will be responsible for submitting the completed roster to the CCSL with any changes prior to the start of the season and on Mondays during the meet portion of the season.
  • Sponsorship Coordinator: Responsibilities include coordinating a committee of volunteers to obtain sponsors, gather sponsor information and logos, and coordination of credits for members that participate in the sponsorship/tuition program.
  • Marketing/PR: We are looking for a person to head up this new committee! We want to spread the word about Pirates, our mission, the fun things we do and accomplishments our swimmers make. This will include helping with the Facebook, Instagram and Twitter account. Possible coordination of yard signs, car decals etc. May also create flyers to be distributed at nearby elementary schools prior to registration start.
  • Ready area coordinator: You will be in charge of coordination of volunteers to staff the ready area during home meets. This will not mean that you work the ready area the whole time. Just make sure your volunteer slots are full and everyone arrives on time.
  • RASH chair: Really awesome swim helpers (RASH) is our junior junior coaching program. It was designed to get 6th to 8th grader ready and excited about making the transition to junior coaching. Responsibilities include coordination and signups, getting tank tops made for the kids, and coordination of signing volunteer forms for their hours for NJHS.
  • Computer chair: Are you great with computers and networking? We need a point person to help out before meets will updating and maintaining equipment and during meets if the clerk needs assistance.
    • Please email piratesswimboard@gmail.com with any questions or to let us know you are ready to sign up!

Miscellaneous
• Tryouts will be held at the Nat in late March or early April. There will be two dates to select if you are a new swimmer. 8U swimmer will need to swim 25 yards freestyle and 25 yards backstroke safely. Ages 9 and up will be required to swim 50 yards of each.
• Packet pickup and meet your new coaching staff in May.
• The meet dates will all be held on Saturdays in late May and June. We will update this and send them out as soon as we have them.
• The champ series dates will be in mid July.
• Practice will begin around May 10th and pool signups will be announced as we confirm pools and set practice schedules for the year.

Finally, stay tuned to your email, our website, and our social media sites for all of the latest information leading up to the season.

Champ Series Information

Posted by Pearland Pirates at Jul 1, 2019 10:35AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Champ and reserve invitations have been sent! If your swimmer qualified for champ or reserve, you’ll be able to declare them in your parent portal. Swimmers must have competed in 2 meets this season to qualify. PLEASE declare your swimmer as attending or not so the coaches know who will be available to seed relays.

Both meets will be held this weekend at the Matthew T. Doyle Natatorium , 1900 5th Ave N, Texas City, TX 77590.

The Reserve meet will be held Saturday, July 6 and the Champ meet will be held on Sunday, July 7. CCSL has strict guidelines regarding the timeframe of these meets. If your swimmer is late to circle in or check in with Coaches, they will be scratched – no exceptions. Please note the timeline:

RESERVE MEETSATURDAY
Volunteer Reps arrive by 7am (find Lynette McManus for volunteer list)
Swimmers/parents arrive by 830am
Coaches Meeting at 9am
Warm ups start at 9:30am
Scratches due at 10am
Timing meeting at 10:45
MEET STARTS at 11am

CHAMP MEETSUNDAY
Volunteer Reps arrive by 6am (find Lynette McManus for volunteer list)
Swimmers/parents arrive by 6am
Warm ups start at 6:30am
Scratches due at 7:30am
Timing meeting at 8:30
MEET STARTS at 9am

If your swimmer has a reserve time, they may swim in the reserve meet to try to make a Champ time. Swimmers may only compete in 3 individual events over the weekend. If they have a champ time already, they may not swim that event on Saturday.

New this year – call ups. The top swimmers in the reserve meet, even if they don’t make a Champ time, may still be called up to compete on Sunday in the Champ meet.

If your swimmer is attending the Reserve Meet , you will need to sign up to volunteer for the Reserve Meet on Saturday. We are required to send one volunteer to help set up at the pool in Texas City on Friday evening; the Set Up Volunteer Job listed for the Reserved Meet is for Friday night.

If your swimmer is attending the Champs Meet, you will need to sign up to volunteer for the Champs Meet on Sunday.

If your swimmer(s) are attending both the Reserve and Champs Meets, you will need to sign up for a volunteer shift at both meets.

All of our volunteer jobs for the Reserve and Champs Meets are assigned by CCSL, and they are subject to change. Please be flexible if we are asked to make last minute changes to our volunteer schedule. We will need everyone’s help to fill our required shifts, including the shifts at the end of the meet. If you sign up as a floater or do not sign up for a volunteer shift, be prepared to work any uncovered job and/or to help relieve volunteers who are working in positions away from the pool.

The meet is an indoor meet with indoor setup. Each team is given a set area in the gymnasium to set up. Please pack compactly for this meet. Rolling coolers are not allowed. Chairs must be on a blanket or tarp, not directly on the gym floors. There is NO setup in the bleachers. Bleachers are for active spectators only.

Concessions as well as t-shirts and programs will be available for purchase .

Practices will be held at the Silverlake pool this week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.
